Course Description
The course description of 'Web Design Section TA: Artistry and Functionality' makes it clear that the course is an examination of web design not a 'how to' in web design. Students will understand from the description that they will have an opportunity to study principals of web design, plan a page/site with appropriate design elements and become better acquainted with the WWW. While the course is design for high school students it can also be appropriate for the higher performing middle school student.

The hook in this course may be the fact that it will give the learner an opportunity to learn simple web design without having to know a specific web authoring tool and html. It is a chance to get their feet wet.

A course outline is essential to helping the online learner stay focused and to not panic. It will give the learner a checklist of sorts to plan their progress and to ask for help when clarification is needed.

The course description gives an overview of the learner expectations in that it lets the learner know they will be expected to participate in collaborative and individual activities as they work through the material. They will be expected to examine the relationships between goals, audience, content and function of web sites. Students will be expected to plan their website to include both basic and advanced design elements. The description also lets them know they will be expected to communicate with others when if mentions they will solicit feedback and respond to suggestions.
